The program targets young people between the ages of 12 and 17 who face risk factors such as school failure, family violence, homelessness or other challenges. Each teen will be paired with a caring mentor who will lend a supportive ear and lead the youth to resources that will help them build career plans and set educational goals. The local GoodGuides program serves youth in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.
Help a Teen Succeed. Become a GoodGuides Mentor Today!
You could have a huge positive impact on a teen’s life by volunteering just a few hours each month as a mentor. Let us connect you with a young person who could benefit from your attention and guidance. Both adult and peer mentors (16 or older) are needed. GoodGuides is also looking for local businesses that are willing to mentor youth at the workplace and expose them to support and opportunities through a team mentoring approach.

Too many of today’s
youth are ambling
without direction into
the future. One mentor
can alter a path;
many mentors can
alter the future. |

What to Expect as a GoodGuides Mentor
• Following a brief orientation, you will attend training (scheduled at a time convenient for you). • For the first few months, you’ll spend time with your teen in a structured group setting. Through a series of group activities, you’ll get to know your teen and help them establish goals. • After you develop a relationship with your teen, you’ll have more individual contact. • Group activities will continue to be held once a month. • Mentors are asked to volunteer 4-6 hours a month and to make at least a one-year commitment.
